Housing Memories 2015
Through community engaged in the Tallaght area this film represents real stories from the intimate spaces of the home be it an apartment, owned or rental housing. The work reflects on and questions the notion the home in postmodern society and questions stereotypes that might exist.

D8HAC statement on Dublin City Councils appalling record regarding tenants request for housing maintenance
"Over the past eighteen months Council tenants have been subjected to rent increases that equate to an increase of an average of 40%.This is an average percentage increase that is almost double that of the private sector in the same reference period.
Despite this tenants have been reporting having extreme difficulties getting housing maintenance issues addressed. The problem is widespread across Dublin 8 and beyond and is systematic right through the local authority from Local Area/Estate Management all the way up to Senior Officials.
Tenants are reporting what we have now identified as a biased and discriminatory attitude when reporting condition issues.
We in D8HAC are in the process of compiling a comprehensive list of dwellings and complaints.Entire communities have now been surveyed and this process will continue over the Summer period. On conclusion we will present these survey results to Dublin City Council and demand they be acted upon.
In the meantime we encourage tenants with relative issues to persist demanding that Housing Maintenance address their needs and to contact us so that we can include their complaints/issues in our survey or if representation/advice is needed.
Dont be fobbed off by a careless or dismissive public servant. They are representatives of your landlord and have responsibilities to you as the legal tenant."

Earlier today the first block of Dolphin House came crashing down. This is an extremely important first step in the regeneration of the area. Dolphins Barn and other communities have been let down in the past with failed Public Private Partnerships. Hopefully this development will ensure the continuation of this vibrant community in decent accommodation that meets all their needs.
