Homeless Dublin. James Connolly would have been outraged that with all the wealth in the country the political elite refuse to end the housing crisis because it profits their vulture mates!

Reaching out to our rough sleepers in county Wexford today it's become evident that vandalism of rough sleepers equipment has become a huge issue among our rough sleeping community
We have a number of cases that have reported their tents and equipment being burnt out - we have photos of a couple of sites but these are not all of the cases reported.

Imagine being homeless and going to get a tea to warm up and Dublin City Council takes your tent and dumps it?
Tent clearances in Dublin. Shameful.

No answer from @Dublin_Simon Assertive Outreach. Sent a 25 year old lad who’s struggling to Ellis Quay under there instructions 20 mins ago.
He’s arrived & told “not on the list”, refused access.
@HomelessDublin reason you’ve empty beds is you won’t let people in!

*** UPDATE: THE LANDLORD HAS REFUNDED THE DEPOSIT TO OUR MEMBERS IN FULL! ***
Two of our members, Sahar & Kerry, moved house in September 2020. They asked their landlord Austin Fitzpatrick to return their deposit of €1500, as they’d left the apartment in perfect condition.
Four months later, they still have not received their €1500.
Austin has ignored every single message they’ve sent since then - complete radio silence.
This is completely unacceptable. We’re calling on Austin Fitzpatrick to return that €1500 to our fellow CATU members ASAP!
We’re calling on all other CATU members to call Austin to remind him that he owes €1500 to Sahar & Kerry.
(all contact details removed as he has refunded the deposit after 3 days of pressure)

Dublin council aided by the guards removing the one thing that keep some people alive this is Friday morning the 29th January. What next will they round them up and throw them in the liffey. This has to be seen for what it is. This is a form of genocide. If they cant treat these people with respect at least leave them alone. They are driving the homeless to the brink of suicide.

A wet morning in Dublin city center this morning and you have Dublin city council assisted by the guards, (some of them quick enough to hide their faces when I started taking pictures) putting homeless people out of their tents and robbing the only shelter they have and their beds. Its absolutely disgusting that this is happening in our country in the year 2021. Over 50 homeless people died on our streets last year with many taking their own life because they think its the only way to stop the pain thats killing them from the inside.... Yep it made me cry too

Shamefully, 90+ of the 190 apartments at Capital Dock (pictured below) & 200 of 246 apartments at Clancy Quay are VACANT.
The Vulture owners, Kennedy Wilson, keep these homes VACANT to artificially maintain the sky-high rents.
We in Dublin Renters' Union have been campaigning for a Vacant Home Tax for the past number of years and is a critical part of the solution to our worsening housing crisis.
