Lady in trouble with her mortgage depicted as Aspiration, who is a renowned female statue residing on the wall of the Treasury Building where NAMA is housed. Aspiration’s ascent is a visual portrayal of ‘climbing the property ladder’, then by inverting Aspiration, Austerity emerges, falling downwards into debt. The text accompanying both images are titles of articles from the Irish Times newspaper relating to the boom and bust of property.
