Christmas Poem
——-——-——-—--
Lying on the cold hard ground
Christmas cheer is all around
Crowds gathering around the tree
All too happy to notice me.
I am the forgotten son,
The lost and lonely homeless one.
There is no Christmas day for me
There is no turkey, present or tree.
As a child Christmas was like a game.
But now christmas is full of shame.
I used to wish for all money could buy
But now I just wish that the night stays dry.
I remember being so full in front of the telly
But all I want now is hot food in my belly.
I heard some kids saying tonight it might snow,
I hope it doesn't, I have nowhere to go.
I can count a thousand feet
Rushing passed me on the street.
Rushing home to be perfect lives
Back to Mothers, Brothers, Wives.
What I miss the most is home,
A place where I don't feel Alone.
So think of me on the twenty fifth,
The sunrise was my only gift.

No decorations
No Christmas tree
No one around me
No presents for me.
Look all around me
What do I see
Just doorways of shops
That's shelter for me.
For you snow is lovely
From your cosy house
But damp, cold and freezing
What's my life all about.
The streets are so empty
Everyone inside having dinner
So bleak and so lonely
I just feel like I'm a sinner.
Is there hope left
I just wonder and pray
For now I will wander
In the cold light of day.

YOU'RE NOT ALONE
Three years it's been going
Outside the central bank
Feeding the homeless
Now our hearts sank.
The bank boarded up
No room for our tables
The homeless will suffer
Now we are disabled.
Three hundred a night
Now won't get any food
Is this the end
Will we have to conclude.
It's not just our group
But others as well
We need a new place
No time can we dwell.
Any suggestions
Any ideas at all
Just get in touch
Just give us a call.

YOU'RE NOT ALONE
Sleep out, FRIDAY 24th Feb at 8pm, Central bank, Dame Street, all welcome.
Support the homeless
Come out in force
They need your support
Not your remorse.
You're Not Alone
Has its big sleep out
On the 24th of February
If you're out and about.
It is ironic that its
At the central bank
With the homeless outside
And inside all the swank.
Week upon week
Year after year
Out in all kinds of weather
With not much to cheer.
So come along
This Friday night
Its starting at eight
Right until it gets bright.
